Durbanville-Bellville Rugby Club: A Legacy of Unity and Community

The Durbanville-Bellville Rugby Club, affectionately known as Durbell, stands as a beacon of pride and tradition in the Western Cape rugby community. Formed through the amalgamation of two historic clubs, Durbanville Rugby Club, founded in 1896, and Bellville Rugby Club, established in 1921, Durbell has been a united force since 2002. Together, these two clubs brought with them over a century of rich rugby history, blending their legacies to create a powerhouse of talent and spirit.

Beyond the rugby pitch, Durbell has embedded itself in the heart of the local community. The club’s dedication to its members and supporters is rooted in its commitment to the “Kinders van die dorp” – meaning “Children from the town.” This philosophy reflects the club’s deep connection with the local youth, nurturing future generations both on and off the field.
